Special Olympics

On Saturday March 10th the Special Olympics Mid-Winter Tournament was held in Iowa City, which is considered the state competition. This competition consisted of several events such as cheerleading and 3 on 3 basketball which are the events that the athletes from Cherokee Middle and High school participated in. Cherokee Schools brought a girls junior division 3 on 3 basketball team, a boys junior division 3 on 3 basketball team and a junior division cheerleading squad. Alanna Fuller was the coach of all three teams, Karlee Fuller helped chaperone with the cheerleading squad. The cheerleaders placed 1st in their division. The boys 3 on 3 team placed second in their division and the girls 3 on 3 team placed first. All the athletes and coaches had a great experience at the competition. They worked hard at practice and it showed during the competition.
