Special Olympics Goes to Iowa City

State Competition

On March 15-16 several Special Olympic athletes traveled to Iowa City to compete in the state competition for 3 on 3 basketball and basketball skills. Cheerleading preformed a great routine that earned them a first place finish. Their division was cheerleading mount and tumble which means they incorporated a stunt and jumps in their routine. 

Our 3 on 3 basketball team which includes Cody Ludwig, Karrie Kozora, Mary Kozora and Kutrice Rollefson, faced a very challenging team that had players with height. The were able to grasp a second place finish.
Basketball skills: Breanna and Caleb Buenger competed at our local competition a month ago, winning to make it to this state competition. They were divisioned based on age and ability. In Breanna's division there were several place ties. She received a 4th place finish. In Caleb's division he placed 2nd. Both did a great job performing their basketball skills. They were coached by Alanna Fuller. Chaperoned by Troy and Leanne Valentine.
