Building for the Future
The 2019-2020 school year is upon us, and excitement is in the air as new friendships are
formed and old friendships are renewed. Families and teachers are settling back into
daily school routines.
Cherokee Schools has many positive things happening this year. We have welcomed
several new teachers to our district as well as construction crews to our town. The dirt
work for the PK-4 elementary addition is underway and the precast panels have been
erected. Cement trucks have been seen in the area constructing one-way driveways and
parking lots.
Washington High School has not been forgotten. The renovation of the locker rooms has
been the focus of attention and should be completed by the end of September. When all
their hard work is finished, our students will have a fantastic space to utilize.
A special Braves thank you to our Cherokee Police Department for providing crossing
guards to ensure the safety of our students. Another Braves thank you to Bethlehem
Lutheran Church for allowing us to use their parking lot for student drop off during this
busy construction time.
We are very excited to see the continuing progress toward completion of these new
facilities for our students!
