Return to Learn Plan 2020-2021

Three Models

Cherokee CSD is committed to supporting students, families, and staff and we continue to encourage you to make it your priority to take care of yourself and your family. We hope that everyone is staying healthy and we recognize how challenging the coronavirus has been for many families. Staff deliberated on three models for returning to learn as directed by the Iowa Department of Education. With guidance and support from the Department of Education and the Northwest Area Education Agency the models are: a Required Continuous (Virtual) Learning model, a Hybrid Learning model, and an On-site Learning model. All models are intended to assist staff, students, and families in providing for the meaningful continuation of learning. Even though we have planned for three different learning models, we still believe that the On-site Learning model is the optimal learning environment for students.

We appreciate your partnership as we navigate this changing environment together. This plan is evolving and is based on guidance from the Governor, the Iowa Department of Public Health, Cherokee County, CDC, and the Iowa Department of Education. Please free to reach out to me or a building principal if you have any input, questions, or concerns.

With great appreciation,

Dr. Kimberly Lingenfelter, Superintendent
