FREE Breakfast for ALL Students
Cherokee Schools to Provide Free Breakfast for All Students
The Cherokee Community School District will offer free breakfast to all
students for the entire 2022-23 school year.
The free breakfasts are made available by the Supply Chain Assistance grant that Cara
Jacobson, the district’s food services director, applied for and received. Cherokee CSD’s food
service staff will distribute breakfasts each morning.
“I am very grateful that we are able to provide our students with this option for breakfast,” said
Jacobson. “Nutrition is a key factor in student performance, and this is a way in which we can
contribute to our students’ nutrition. We know that this is a financially stressful time for families
and we hope to ease that burden with this opportunity.”
School lunch has returned to the price that was in place prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, which
is $2.35 per student. Free and reduced meal applications are available to families at all schools.
