Girls Basketball
February 15, 2024
The girls’ basketball program is composed of young, talented athletes. Over the years the program has consistently produced successful teams within the Lakes Conference at the varsity and junior varsity level. All our teams compete at a high level within the conference, and face off against local schools such as Harlan, Atlantic, Greene County, Newell-Fonda and MOC-Floyd Valley to name a few. One of the most anticipated matchups of the season is against rival, Alta-Aurelia High School, where family and friends alike pack the field house on game day. The girls’ basketball program is strongly supported at Cherokee Washington High School and throughout the community, which creates a great sense of pride within the town of Cherokee.
The girls’ basketball program stresses the importance of skill development and a team first mentality. Our experienced and passionate coaching staff pushes our girls to be their very best as individual players, and as teammates. We believe that the success of any of our teams relies heavily on the strength of the group as a whole. The program sets high standards for its players, seeking to develop talented basketball players, as well as well-rounded student-athletes. Many of the girls within the basketball program are recognized for their accomplishments off the court, something that Cherokee Washington High School prides itself on.
With all of its recent success, we anticipate that the girls’ basketball program with have another successful season at Cherokee Washington High School.
