The Cherokee Community school nurses are committed to providing your child with the best care possible in our schools. We know the value of having trained staff to deal with whatever medical or health issue your child encounters and will do what we can to meet the needs of your child in the school environment. We will communicate and collaborate with you and others in the medical field when permission is granted by you or when necessary (as in case of an emergency). We understand the responsibility we have been given and will do what we can to ensure an educational environment that promotes optimal health, wellness, and the safety of all students.

Head Lice Information & Treatment

CCSD policy follows Iowa Depart of Public Health childhood exclusion criteria.
Iowa law prohibits exclusion for head lice. You will not be notified if there is a case
of head lice present in your student's classroom. Always assume it is going around
& check your student's hair frequently. If head lice is found in your student's hair
at school you will be notified and asked to treat your student when they
return home from school.

   
Pink Eye Information
CCSD policy follows Iowa Depart of Public Health childhood exclusion criteria.
Iowa law prohibits exclusion for pink. You will not be notified if there is a case
of pink eye  present in your student's classroom.

The Cherokee Community Food Service Department takes pride in preparing and serving high quality nutritious meals to our students. The meals feature 100% whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables daily. The kitchen staff prepare a variety of meal options daily which include a self- serve salad bar, and à la carte options.
