National Honor Society

Cherokee National Honor Society is a group of selected students whose mission is supporting the community and making an impact on others.  

 

Each fall applications are available to any Junior or Senior that meets the following criteria. 

 

The 4 NHS pillars and qualifications to apply include:

  • Scholarship - do you have a GPA of 3.2 or higher?
  • Leadership - what have you done to stand out as a positive leader and role model?
  • Service - what do you do to serve others?
  • Character - do you exhibit integrity, respect, trustworthiness, care for others, and hold a good record of conduct?

Applications when you are a Junior or Senior have specific places to list your involvement in…

  • Leadership Positions
  • Activities you are involved in
  • Service activities
  • Other community activities
  • Work experience, Recognition and Awards

 

The Cherokee Washington High School Chapter of the National Honor Society participates in many service projects each year.  In the past we have done service projects including, the Rotary Backpack Program, reading to elementary students, doing activities with middle school students, helping the Chamber with events in Cherokee, City-Wide Clean up, adopting families for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas, Helping Hands supplies drives, Soles for Souls, Braves Garage Sale, and the Cut-A-Thon.  These projects are selected by current NHS members each year and driven by their goals and passions for serving others.
